Best Advice:
Don’t give up. In order to have a business, you are going to have your ups and downs and you are going to struggle. Keep true to yourself and believe in what you want; if you want it bad enough it will happen to you. There were times that I did struggle there for a while and I just knew that if I kept going and didn’t give up, I would make it. I would cut things that I didn’t need and I would do everything possible to keep everything going. I stayed true to myself and to my beliefs and it ended up becoming more successful than I could have ever imagined. No matter what you do, there are going to be moments where you say to yourself, “Should I have really done this?” But if you believe in what it is you are trying to do and in yourself, then it’s going to happen.

Cambridge Who's Who:
What are your short-term and long-term career goals?
WANDA
L.
VIERA
: I am fortunate that my existing clients encourage others to switch to our services. I would like to end up being known as a company that will take good care of you when you call, no matter what happens. Clients know that when they talk to us, we stop what we’re doing and help them immediately.
What is the most significant issue facing your profession today?
Fraud is the most significant issue because nowadays anybody can go to an Office Depot or any one of those stores, get blank W2s and type them up on a computer. There is so much computer technology today that you can alter anything and create anything. When you went to a mortgage company or a bank in the past, if you showed them a W2 they didn’t question it because you had it front of you. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s what you actually filed. The whole purpose of my business is to prevent fraudulent loans and now that the industry has been the way that it is, a lot of the mortgage companies and banks are pulling the information on every single loan. It doesn’t matter if you provide the information or not, they are still verifying it.
What is the most difficult obstacle or challenge you have faced in pursuit of your goals?
Since I didn’t have a whole lot of schooling, it would be the technical aspect. For instance, keeping up with the other companies out there that have programmers or advanced computer technology. I’m just now learning all of that. I’m working on offering more online availability to all of my clients while at the same time keeping the business homey like a mom and pop. Other businesses out there are providing more automated services online. We are trying to accommodate that while keeping our business the way it always has been. I will never put in an automated phone system. I will always have everyone here to answer the phone and take care of my clients.
