Dr. Romankiw made key contributions to important storage technologies described in the 1981 U.S. patent 4,295,173 titled 'Thin Film Inductive Transducer,' the 1975 U.S. patent 3,908,194 titled 'Integrated MR Read, Inductive Write Recording Heads,' and to seven additional critical head fabrication inventions. Dr. Romankiw is a co-inventor of laser enhanced electroplating. IBM has honored Romankiw with 13 outstanding invention and contribution awards and 25 invention achievement awards.
