Dr. Brown was the first professional African-American staff employee at Gaston College. She has also worked four years in the public school system as a high school librarian and an elementary teacher. She has been featured by the press headlines that she is 'More than a Librarian.' She has vast knowledge in know how to retrieve information that is useful to patrons when and where needed. She received a Certificate of Retirement from the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges in 2007. She is also an assistant to the direct of libraries and coordinates utilization services.
