Interview Excerpt

Cambridge Who's Who: What would you like to promote most about yourself or your business?
LINDA K. PEHL PH.D., RN, CNE:  I would like to promote that my industry requires a continuation of education. The healthcare field is growing and changing as we’re doing this interview. It’s not only the field of nursing, but also the other fields that interact with nursing among disciplines in healthcare. I want to promote that I’ve always enjoyed learning and working with people, and am open to the ideas of others. I’m interested in how people do things in other cultures. In July 2010, I’m going to Indonesia on a healthcare mission trip sponsored through my church, First Baptist Church of Belton.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
The most rewarding aspect of my career is the miracle of birth; it never gets old. When you think of all the things that could go wrong at any point in time and how many births come out perfect, it’s amazing. A family is being established, whatever the word family means to that particular couple. To see a family come together is wonderful.

And what specific steps have you taken toward achieving these goals?
The grant I am currently writing, which involves spirituality and nursing, should bring opportunities, publications and speaking engagements. I would like to be a congregational nurse and have a retreat in which the students would be fully engaged all week long. I want the class to be a weeklong program from which they have to graduate in order to become a congregational nurse.
