Why F is an Expert:

Best Advice:
You have to always be aware of your surroundings and the needs of the community. Many times, they cannot reach out to provide others with the education or monetary support for everyone. You have to be aware of this and fill in these gaps that are not as visible, unless you are familiar with what is going on around you. Be aware of the people who need the most help, especially now (with the economy changing and the programs being cut down).

Passionate about:
The hospice program in the area; the Trade Winds program, which supports the disabled; the Catholic charities; and the arts.

Biography Excerpt:
Eleanor Kay-Mirich, chief executive officer and health administrator for Mirich Medical Corporation, maintains a profound interest in providing healthcare to those who need it the most support within her community. While our country’s current economic downturn has rendered universal healthcare next to impossible, she continues to endure an uphill struggle each day so that she may obtain the necessary financing. After all, she and her husband, Ernest, were the first people in the local community to establish a cardiac rehabilitation facility, which provides life saving services including ambulatory care, cardiovascular and cardiac rehabilitation, and echocardiography and electrocardiography services. Why let the people of her community down now? “In the cardiac rehabilitation or rehabilitation units, we see people who are in there with chronic conditions (for example, some of them are amputees),” she says. “You just have so many people that don’t have anyone to tell them, ‘We can help.’ That’s where we come in.”

Interview Excerpt

Cambridge Who's Who: How do you remain current in your profession?
ELEANOR KAY-MIRICH :  Being on the Board of Directors gives you an opportunity to see what’s current and ask yourself: what events, trends and developments are going to have an impact on the community? The experience has given me an avenue to perceive what is going on – where the most need is evident. This way, you can most easily reach out and fill a spot that is being neglected.

What would you like to promote most about yourself or your business?
We are fulfilling the needs of the people in the area. We are providing aid for people who are not being reached out to; who do need someone to help them along. We are not only providing physical support, but also emotional care within the community. We continue to do so, despite all of the recent economic changes.

What is the most difficult obstacle or challenge you have faced in pursuit of your goals?
Basically, we’ve had to focus on the special needs of these people where sometimes, other people or programs do not service them. People just don’t really care about reaching out. Nowadays it’s harder to get people to give help to our system.
