Patricia M. Scott is a retired licensed practical nurse who worked for Carroll Hospital Center, specializing in medical-surgical and ambulatory surgery care. She received her licensed practical nursing degree in 1962 from South Baltimore General Hospital Nursing School and served the healthcare system with dedication for 45 years. The recipient of two Licensed Practical Nurse of the Year awards, Ms. Scott attributes her success to a desire to help others. It is also important for her to have a positive impact on their lives.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career?
PATRICIA

SCOTT
: My patients. Now that I’m retired, many of them [my former patients] ask where I am. A lot of our patients are repeats at the hospital over the years. I miss delivering care to them.
What is the most significant issue facing your profession today?
Nobody wants to work in nursing nowadays, due to the hours and the labor involved. There is a low amount of people entering the profession.
What would you like to promote most about yourself or your business?
After 45 years of nursing at the same hospital, I retired on May 1, 2008.
