Alycia R. Policani, ND is a naturopathic physician and the owner of Evergreen Naturopathic. With seven years of experience in the field as the owner of her own private practice, her expertise is in naturopathic primary care, with a specialization in women’s health. She also treats patients with pediatric nursing and gastrointestinal health issues as well as people with autoimmune disease.

     

Cambridge Who's Who: What would you like to promote most about yourself or your business?  
ALYCIA R POLICANI :  I would like more people to know what naturopathic medicine is about and understand our training. Naturopathic medicine is preventative; it treats the cause of disease. That’s an important resource for anybody, because healthcare in the United States is in a difficult situation; some doctors are tired of the healthcare they are forced to give. Not every single state here licenses naturopathic physicians. But if you’re in a licensed state, we did attend medical school and we are trained physicians.

What’s the most difficult obstacle or challenge you have faced in pursuit of your goals?
We have been perceived falsely by the conventional medical community and the media – there’s a lot of false information out there. We’ve been educating the public and other physicians in my area as to what our training really is and what we really do – that’s gotten better and better.

What is one example of a fallacy you’re up against?
A lot of people don’t know that we’ve attended medical school and that we’re trained physicians. They think we’re lay herbalists.
