Why M is an Expert:
My expertise is in general optometry, which includes contact lens fitting, the diagnosis and treatment of ocular infections, and referral of patients with ocular and neurological problems and diseases to the proper specialist.

Best Advice:
Stay educated – there is a lot of information on which to stay current. Insurance has changed so much over the years now, too. Medicine’s come such a long way and there is a reimbursements side with insurance. Now, the government’s going to get involved and all of that’s going to change.

Passionate about:
I’m honest with people and I do my best to help them any way I can. I help financially if I am able; I’m always myself with people.

Biography Excerpt:
Wm Brent Walker’s greatest joy is in helping others attain the best eyesight possible. An optometrist with almost 30 years of experience in the field, Dr. Walker recently received military clearance to practice on the Fort Stewart Army Base. He looks forward to providing a high level of optometry services to the largest Army installation east of the Mississippi River.

Cambridge Who's Who: What is the most significant issue facing your profession today?  
DR. WILLIAM BRENT WALKER OD:  Ensuring that optometry is not left out in the cold during this health care situation going on in Washington. We don’t want optometry to get left out of all this legislation that is being drafted. There is fluid, changing healthcare legislation that’s going on in the nation.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
I love what I do and I’m good at it. I get pleasure out of helping people and enabling them to see clearly.

How do you remain current in your profession?
I attend conferences twice a year and attend seminars regularly. I take about 20 hours of continuing education a year.
