H. Hawthorne Harris is a former Family Court judge of Westchester County, New York, attorney and counselor who specialized in family law, cider law and estate practice. With his expertise in estate and surrogate law litigation, he managed wills and oversaw guardianship and adoption issues for 55 years. In 1973, he was the Democratic Party’s candidate for Surrogate Court of Westchester County. In 1975, Mr. Harris was appointed Family Court judge of Westchester County by the then-Governor and was confirmed by the New York State Senate. He was the first African-American to be appointed to the bench in Westchester County. He continues to participate in law-related activities such as conferences, seminars and lectures in the United States and abroad.
