Connie J. Pence is a paralegal with more than 25 years of experience in civil, commercial and corporate law. In 2006, she was the recipient of COALA’s Paralegal of the Year Award for being "exceptionally conscious" and for working "tirelessly as a team player." She was also recognized as a nominee for the National Paralegal of the Year award. In addition to her assistance in litigation, Ms. Pence actively promotes and cultivates the paralegal field in Oklahoma City. She is involved in selecting certain students to qualify for a law firm trip, which includes a courthouse tour. Additionally, she speaks about the profession to prospective paralegals. Ms. Pence formerly served as a member of the paralegal division board of delegates for the Oklahoma City Bar Association.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?

: Helping clients; being able to give back to my community by doing pro bono work and working with deprived juveniles and displaced children. I enjoy staying active in my paralegal organizations - one such is COALA [Central Oklahoma Association of Legal Assistants], where I am currently secretary of the executive board.
How do you stay current in your profession?
I attend various CLE (Continue Legal Education) courses. I read professional publications, including OCBA’s The Briefcase, OBA’s The Bar Journal, Legal Assistants Today, NALA publications, and The Journal Record.
What is the most difficult obstacle or challenge you have faced in pursuit of your goals?
I have one six-year-old daughter and four teenage sons, which make for difficult obstacles and challenges. I work hard not let anything interfere with my goals. I am a very strong-willed individual and continuously forge ahead.
