Public Speaking Experience:

Why F is an Expert:
I’m a jack-of-all-trades, master of none; I’ve got so many interests in my life. I’ve got a keyboard, a piano and organ that I play and I can’t miss Scrabble – my mind is just going.

Best Advice:

Passionate about:
I’m most passionate about the fact that I was born and raised on this farm and my mother and father taught me honesty. Honesty and integrity are important. My dad had a lot of integrity. My father didn’t leave me a lot of money, but he left me with this legacy of telling the truth and being honest, decent and kind to people – I think that is worth so much more than money. People think making money is the most important thing, but it’s not. It’s what you do with your life, not the money you’re making. For some people, that’s the only heaven they’re going to see, what they got right here. I really wish people loved other people more. If there was more love in this world, there wouldn’t be all these problems.

Biography Excerpt:
Eve Naomi McCune is a dynamo – a woman who, on October 9, 2009, turned 90 years old and can still run circles around people half her age. She is the owner of Eve, Inc., a retail and distribution company that manufactures the Canasta Organizer. “Canasta is a very messy card game, to tell the truth,” she states. About the size of a placemat, her patented Canasta Organizer holds up to 72 cards securely, with 12 ranks holding six cards each; one more makes a book, so the attractive organizer (handmade by Eve out of colorful fabrics and ribbons) even counts down your way to victory. With such ease-of-use, Ms. McCune remarks, “You will never go back to playing canasta the old way.”

Interview Excerpt

Cambridge Who's Who: What is the most difficult obstacle or challenge you have faced in pursuit of your goals?
EVE NAOMI MCCUNE :  I was a timid girl. When I was in the eighth grade, I had a long poem to read. I knew it and I practiced it, but I was so scared. I had it in my head, but I said I couldn’t do it. I got in front of everybody and, all at once, this black curtain came down. I said this thing and I put my hands out and talked; I did everything I was supposed to do. When I was done, the black curtain left. I learned that if you want to do something badly, you will do it. I don’t care how hard you try, you can do it. The word “can’t” has to stay out of people’s vocabulary. Once you say “can’t,” something snaps in your brain and you don’t do it.

What are your short-term and long-term career goals?
There’s so many things that I want to do; I want to live life to the fullest in all these things. I’m going to manufacture these organizers as long as I can. When I get too many orders, I may need to hire some help. I also want to be a guest on the Jay Leno show. It’s not that far away from me – I want to send my book to Jay Leno. I really want to get on that show and play “The Impossible Dream (The Quest)” for him. I saw his show last night and I said, “I’ve got to get on that show.”

What is the most rewarding aspect of your career
When I became an office manager, I worked very hard and made that place look so pretty. I organized everything, as in the in and out, and all the things were always put away. I’ve been through a lot; I once played the organ at a restaurant – there was a big sign outside, saying, “Sing and Dance with Eve”; I did that for more than a year.
