Biography Excerpt:
Irma Friedman is the chief executive officer of the Victoria National Golf Club, a sprawling, 418-acre golf course that boasts breathtaking landscapes and spring-fed lakes. Voted number 24 in Golf Digest’s review of America’s Greatest 100 Golf Courses for 2008 and 2009, Victoria National Golf Club is considered an elite destination. Built over a former stripped, open coalmine, the terrain has been radically transformed and now plays host to abundant wildlife, top-notch fishing and native vegetation. The Victoria National Golf Club has also been recognized as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for its dedication to maintaining high environmental standards. An avid golfer herself, Ms. Friedman, along with her husband, Terry Friedman, shared a vision of creating a world-class country club offering Southern Indiana hospitality. In just 10 years, they have achieved that dream.

Cambridge Who's Who:
What would you like to promote most about yourself or your business?
IRMA
FRIEDMAN
: We are a national company and we have a lot of national members. Overall, the golf course is beautiful. We’re looking to build our membership so that more people can enjoy this great golf course. Essentially, we are promoting a lifestyle. We just recently opened up land in the back of our golf course for fishing, boating and hiking, which will be available to all homeowners and members. Not all our members are great golfers; many of them come visit for the setting. The terrain here gets really tough, which is adequate for the more avid golfers. We’re having an LPGA event here, which means we are probably going to be on the Golf Channel in October 2010.
How do you remain current in your profession?
I get Golf Digest, Golf World, Golfweek, GOLF Magazine; I also watch golf on television. I have always been connected.
What is the most significant issue facing your profession today?
The economy and being located in the Midwest have been challenges.
