Mr. Senensky’s expertise includes film and theatre direction.

Employment History:

Public Speaking Experience:

Why M is an Expert:
I just do the best I can to prepare for the next life. I hope that I can take what I’ve learned in this one so that I’ll have more to start with at the beginning of the next.

Best Advice:
Do your homework and build your foundation. I think that too many people coming into it are not as trained as they should be. Training doesn’t necessarily mean in school; you need a solid theater background to go into it. I didn’t learn in school – except for my two years at the playhouse and a little more at Northwestern, where none of it was in film, but in theater.

Passionate about:
Old movies. That’s one of the things I do in the morning; get up and tape old movies mostly from the Turner Classic Movies [channel]. I put them on discs and box them, and buy others so that my collection now holds more than 2,300 movies.

Biography Excerpt:
Though Ralph Senensky’s name may not be easily recognizable as one of America’s most famous directors, his body of work includes many beloved hallmarks of our culture. From sci-fi classics such as “The Twilight Zone” and “Star Trek: The Original Series” to family-oriented shows like “The Partridge Family” and “Eight is Enough,” Mr. Senensky’s directing credits have seen him collaborating with an impressive array of actors, fellow directors and movie executives to produce masterful works of art. Growing up in a small town during the Depression, he wasn’t exposed to the bright lights, dazzling stars and endless opportunities that Hollywood had to offer. After relocating to California in the 1960s, he began exploring the wonders of the stage, gaining experience in theater productions before venturing into the relatively new world of television.

Interview Excerpt

Cambridge Who's Who: What would you like to promote most about yourself or your body of work?
RALPH SENENSKY :  That I am still here! It’s a long way from a very small town in Depression-era Iowa to Carmel, Calif. – a very long trip. Back then, Hollywood, without the benefit of television and the communication that’s around today, seemed to be on a different planet.

How did you manage to remain current throughout your years in the field?
I just went to work each day and approached each project with as much enthusiasm and dedication to keep going as I could.

What has been your most outstanding professional accomplishment to date?
The entire package has been wonderful; the people that I’ve been able to meet and work with throughout my career have been outstanding to me.
