Why
She
is an Expert:
Ms. Lindsey's knowledge and passion make her a valuable expert in her field. "I love what I do," she proclaims. And if you don't stay out of her way. "I have a stubborn streak if I’m working with someone who won’t do what I ask them to do. If they keep coming back without following the treatment, I let them loose."
Best Advice:
"Advertise. People get into this business and, unfortunately, they don’t spread the word about themselves. If you know what you can do, advertise. Let your product do the work. Whenever I have clients with blackheads, during the second wash, I use a bamboo cream peel with little round balls. You don’t want to use the one with ground up walnuts because it will leave little cuts in your skin. Using the bamboo cream peel, you don’t exfoliate; you get deep inside and do a cleansing. The blackheads go away."
Passionate about:
"Educating the clients so they’re not just stumbling around out there. I tell my clients to never sell more than three items: a cleanser, a toner and a moisturizer to start with. And you should cleanse your face twice at night. If you’re wearing makeup, after the second cleansing, you’ll notice you’re still taking makeup off. If you sell anymore than that, it confuses them. As you get to where you’re really good at those functions, then move onto the other products."

Cambridge Who's Who:
What are your short-term and long-term career goals?
BEVERLY
M
LINDSEY
: I’d like to see more doctors using [natural] products instead of chemicals. Everything that’s sold consisting of chemicals is stored somewhere in the body. Your body gets it and says, “Ok, what am I going to do with this?” If you’re using a botanical or natural product, your body welcomes it. It may take a little longer, but in the long run there’s more benefit. Sometimes, there are chemical reactions and the products don’t end up working. Long-term, I’d like to see some of the clients using the products get more into this field and maybe take over my job. I’d like to see them educate the consumer.
Do you have a motto?
Don’t scrub your skin; it’s not the kitchen floor.
What is the most difficult obstacle or challenge you have faced in pursuit of your goals?
A big challenge is educating people to get away from the drug or department store, and how to get products from professionals. They all want to see results, so they need to obtain more professional treatment. If people could see their skin with and without makeup using a magnifying light and a mirror, if they can see a difference after using our products, they will react differently. When we see patients, we give a thorough evaluation. We have a rescue cream we give to hospices and cancer hospitals. Chemotherapy dries the skin up so much; the cream we’re using moisturizes them.
