Dr. Dr. Okun perfected the non-surgical method of repositioning the maxilla on the cranial base for class III malocclusions and other misalignments of the maxilla to the mandible, for which he was awarded the Joseph E. Johnson Table Clinic Award. He has received the America's Top Dentist Award three years in a row. Dr. Okun has been in charge of the United Fund drive for the Jewish Community Center for four years and is a former member of the Board of Trustees Congregation. He has worked for the Anti-Defamation League, the United Jewish Appeal, and the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies. Dr. Okun was an extern in oral surgery at the Harlem Hospital in 1955 before being called into the United States Army to serve with the rank of Captain with two years of active duty and six years of reserve service until 1957. He served as the president of the community board of Jewish education, as the vice president of the Port Chester Community Center and as a board member of Congregation Kneses Tifereth Israel. He was an international delegate for Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity in Seattle, Washington, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in Israel.
